Bayer launches new grade of medical thermoplastic polyurethane

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) launched a new series of medical grade Texin thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) at MD&M West 2007 in the US Medical Equipment Show 2007. They are:

Texin RxT85A - 85A Polyether Texin RxT90A - 90A Polyether Texin RxT50D - 50D Polyether Texin RxT65D - 65D Polyether

These new grades are designed specifically for the medical market and are suitable for a wide range of medical applications including catheters, flexible thin-walled anti-kinks tubing, connecting tubes, Luer connectors and plug valves, puncture-resistant films and breathable coats. Fabric coating for linen, linen and woolen clothing.

Bayer MaterialScience's medical grade Texin resin meets FDA's revised ISO 10993 Part 1 "Biological Assessment of Medical Devices" testing requirements for human tissue contact time no longer than 30 days. The important features/advantages of these medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethanes also include:

Excellent clarity for easy observation of excellent chemical resistance and resistance to oils Highly abrasion resistant, tear resistant and anti-pollution Excellent anti-mildew, anti-fungal and low extractability for algae resistance, especially compared to polyvinyl chloride Allergic reactions can be radiated, ethylene oxide, and dry heat
