Now, human neuron research can be demonstrated using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology. When a research subject lies in the fMARI machine, scientists can observe their brain activity in real time. It is reported that in April this year, a Japanese research team announced that they can distinguish objects formed by people during their sleep, such as houses, bells, husbands, etc.
In November of the previous year, another research team also used this technology to successfully predict whether the gadget columnist David Pogue was thinking of a skyscraper or a strawberry.
However, neither of the above two studies can know the emotional response of the research subjects at that time. Today, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have released a new research report that will break this bottleneck. The report pointed out that researchers still use fMRI technology, but they can judge their emotional state based on the neural activity of the research subject.

The researchers said that first of all, they asked a group of actors to perform various emotions such as anger, jealousy, fear, happiness, pride, sadness, and greed, and then recorded brain movements of various emotional states through fMRI machines. After that, the computer will judge the emotion of the research object based on these data. The researchers also pointed out that even if a new emotional response occurs, the system can judge it.
