China's ink industry is also active in international trade. In 2001, 2002 and 2003, China's export volume of printing inks was 0.97, 0.95, and 10.8 thousand tons respectively, with an average annual foreign exchange earning of more than 50 million US dollars; the import volume was 2.47, 2.80, and 39,400 tons, respectively. In international trade, China's ink product market presents six major characteristics:
1. The export market is mainly distributed in Asia, Africa and North America. Asia exports account for more than 85% of China’s total ink exports, while exports to Africa and North America total 12%, and Europe and Oceania are also different. There is a small part.
2. Imports mainly come from Asia. Imports from Asia generally account for about 3/4 of China's total ink imports in the year, followed by Europe and North America. Their total import volume accounts for about 1/4.
3. The types of imported inks in China are mainly high-end and special-purpose inks with low domestic production, insufficient supply in the market, or domestic blanks. The average unit price of imports is generally about 1/3 higher than the average unit price of exports during the same period.
4. Imports far exceed exports, and this gap continues to widen. Although in recent years, China’s ink industry has further demonstrated strong growth momentum in the face of the new situation of China’s accession to the WTO and integration into the global economy, there is still a large gap between the supply and demand of domestic inks, especially high-grade. The larger ink gap has resulted in an increase in the proportion of imports and exports of ink in China in the past three years. In 2001, 2002, and 2003, the import volume was 2.55, 2.95, and 3.65 times of the export volume, respectively.
5. The quality level of domestic inks has not only been widely recognized by developing countries in the international market, but has also been recognized by developed countries. In recent years, China's exports to Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom and some developed countries in Europe and the United States, the average annual export volume of printing ink accounts for about one-sixth of China's total ink exports over the same period.
6 Although the quality level and product grade of domestic inks have greatly improved, the varieties have also increased, but there is still a certain gap compared with the international advanced level. This is reflected in the export to some advanced countries in the same period in China and imports from these countries. For similar products, the average import unit price is generally about 1/3 higher than the average export unit price.
