The highest peak in North America - Mount McKinley

Mount McKinley is located in the middle south of Alaska and is the middle section of the Alaska Range. It is 6,193 meters above sea level and is the highest peak in North America.

Mount McKinley was originally named Denali. This is the name of local Indians. The meaning of Denali in Indian is "the house of the sun." Later, this mountain was named Mount McKinley by the name of William McGinley, the 25th president of the United States.

The Mt. McKinleys was a giant braided mountain in the late Tertiary and Quaternary period. It had two peaks: North and South. The southern peak was the highest peak in North America with an elevation of 6,193 meters, and the height of the north peak was 5,934 meters. There is snow in the mountains all year round, and the height of the snow line is 1830 meters. The south slope has more rainfall and the glaciers are larger. There are major glaciers such as Katherine and Ruth. The McKinley Mountains are warmer due to the warm currents of the Pacific Ocean. They have a mild climate in the summer and are below 762 meters above sea level. They have developed forests and are mainly birch trees. Green forests, snow-capped peaks, and vast glaciers reflect each other in the sunshine, and the scenery is refreshing. In 1917, Mount McKinley was turned into a national park.

Mount McKinley National Park is the second largest park in the United States after Yellowstone Park and covers more than 6,800 square kilometers. It is located at the edge of the border, sparsely populated, cold weather, unique natural scenery, 400 kilometers north of the park, is the Arctic Circle. At noon, the park is the most spectacular.

In the McKinley Mountain National Park, people can feel the darkness of the winter, enjoy the long white nights of the summer, and the wonderful polar scenery is amazing.

Since Mount McKinley is the first mountain in North America, it attracts tourists and climbers from all over the world. For the convenience of ordinary tourists, there is a winding path built to the top of the mountain. The trail is 58 kilometers in length. As the weather here is fickle, most of the trails are often covered by snow. It is very difficult to climb. Even a professional mountaineer needs two weeks to climb to the top of the peak. The average visitor takes about a month. The abrupt change of weather and the avalanche each year have caused the tragedy of the climbers to die. This has provided a place for performance for adventurous Americans. They rush to come here to challenge McKinley with their physique and wisdom.

Mount McKinley is also a wildlife sanctuary. Common animals include reindeer, grizzly bears and storks. Every year from the end of June to the beginning of July is the season of reindeer migration. Hundreds of thousands of reindeers march in one direction, making it spectacular. After the winter, they returned on the same route.

Traveling in the McKinley Mountains, people can live in Eskimo huts and experience the primitive lifestyle of fishing and hunting.

In addition, it is also an ideal place for scientific research on glacial frozen soil, polar mountain climate, natural ecology and geophysics.
