Kodak Introduces New MAGNUS 800 Computer Platesetter

On January 26, Kodak introduced the new KODAK MAGNUS 800 computer-to-plate machine. This end-to-end automation of the platesetter can handle up to 40 plates per hour, increasing the productivity and efficiency of image imaging service providers. At the IPEX Media Week in London on January 26th, Kodak’s Graphic Arts Group (GCG) announced the launch of a new type of folio computer-to-plate machine.

The new design and software of the MAGNUS 800 Platesetter can greatly improve performance and reduce downtime. The system can provide production capacities of 15, 22, 30, 40 plates per hour, and can be easily upgraded as needed. The MAGNUS 800 Computer Platesetter is also designed to support higher speeds later.

The MAGNUS 800 Computerized Platesetter is a fully automated system that was introduced for the first time. It can be used with an automatic version of a single- or multi-box version. One-box cartridges can hold up to 100 sheets, and multi-box cartridges can hold five cartridges totaling 500 sheets. Each cartridge can be loaded with different sized plates. Semi-automatic equipment capable of continuous loading and built-in punching will be launched in mid-2006.
