Scanning with ScanWizard

Image scanning is the most basic function of the scanner. Print is a very rich source of images. Many users purchase scanners, which are specially designed for scanning newspapers and magazines. However, many users will find that the scanned images are often unsatisfactory and there will be many interference fringes on them.

This type of interference fringe, commonly referred to as "netting", is caused by the print characteristics of the print. The printing process of ordinary prints is itself interwoven by different dots to form different patterns. Such dots are often overlooked when viewed by naked eyes. The CCD of the scanner is usually more sensitive than the naked eye and is pursued as it is. Under the circumstances, there is no shortage of textures. The occurrence of webbing is a problem that is most likely to occur when the printed matter is scanned, especially when the scanning accuracy is in multiples of the number of printed lines in the printed matter. The previous solution was generally done by using Photoshop software to do a "blurry" filter. However, this solution not only requires the user to purchase additional image processing software, but also does not have special settings for different prints, and it also loses a lot of image information while removing moire. Some well-known scanner manufacturers discovered the needs of users in time. Here, taking the Microtek scanner as an example, we introduced how to use the supplied ScanWizard software for descreening.

Using ScanWizard (recommended to use 5.0 or later) to reticulate the steps is very simple, as long as the parameters are set, you can get a very clear, no texture picture.

Select the "Go to network" option in ScanWizard's advanced operation panel to scan (as shown). This option appears in the Settings window of the Advanced Control Panel. There are several network dropout parameters: newspaper (85lpi), magazine (150lpi), exquisite magazine (175lpi), and custom. General users can choose according to the quality of prints.

For example, the original document is a printed matter, which is scanned in color using a Microtek ScanMaker 3800 scanner with ScanWizard software and a resolution of 300 dpi. The effect of not scanning the network is very clear, but with a clear texture; using 175lpi and 150lpi parameters to the effect of the network is better, compared to not the net picture, a little bit fuzzy, but no texture, and loss of detail at the same time Not very big; using 85 lpi to scan the network, the picture is greatly blurred, many details are not retained.

Therefore, when scanning, if it is a printed manuscript, be sure to use network scanning, and pay attention to: use as much as possible to use the network quality parameters of the original scanning. But keep in mind that the lower the number of network cables used, the stronger the effect, but the greater the distortion of the original. The essence of network scanning is to choose the best balance between eliminating moire and maintaining the details of the picture. Scanners can also choose the “custom” mode and select different network parameters for comparison in order to achieve Good scanning effect.
