New type of biopolymer material developed successfully in Russia

The Institute of Biophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has successfully developed bio-polymeric materials that can be compatible with human tissues and automatically degrade by means of hydrogen bacteria. In recent years, biopolymer materials have attracted more and more attention. They are hydroxy-derived fatty acid polymers, which have two characteristics that can be automatically degraded and biocompatible in nature. Some organisms, such as hydrogen bacteria, can synthesize this biopolymer. At the same time, this polymer has good physicochemical properties, such as thermoplasticity like polypropylene and polyethylene, and also has oxidation resistance, optical and piezoelectric effects.

At present, Russian researchers have used hydrogen bacteria to successfully synthesize two kinds of biopolymerized materials, polyoxybutyrate and butyrate, and developed a production device for this material. Within a week, they can produce 1 kg of this biopolymer material. . The researchers in the introduction of the performance and use of these materials pointed out that their biggest feature is that they can be used in medical wound bandages, surgical sutures, vascular inlays, man-made organ bases, etc., can also be used for disposable packaging Materials, pharmaceuticals, food industry and agriculture. At the same time, since the degradation rate of these biopolymers depends on the type of their own surface, different filling materials can be used to change the surface shape.

It is reported that these two kinds of biopolymer materials developed by Russia have passed animal experiments and are now being transferred to clinical trials.
